O'Brien Assists with Storm Response

The responce is underway for Sunday's severe hailstorm, which resulted in 30 people being injured and thousands of homes damaged.

New South Wales State Emergency Service Spokesperson, Phil Campbell, said the SES was continuing to respond to the 1,300 calls for assistance it has received over the past 24 hours.

"SES volunteers alongside other community members and groups are working tirelessly around the clock to provide assistance to those who have been affected by the storm," he said.

O'Brien, Australia's market leader in automotive and building glass replacement, has also received an unprecedented number of calls for its glass replacement service since Sunday. In response, the organisation yesterday commenced emergency service for customers within an hour of the event, and general damage and assessment work is now well underway.

According to O'Brien Managing Director, Peter Lumsdaine, O'Brien, like the SES, understands the importance of being able to respond quickly and efficiently to an emergency.

"Recognising the need for a rapid response to the severe hailstorm, we immediately activated our Storm Response Plan, ensuring that a large supply of glass stocks were readily available to the effected areas whilst also reallocating our glazing resources to this disaster so as to ensure we are best equipped to meet the significant increase in demand for our services.

Customers should be aware that response times in some affected areas could be slightly delayed and we ask in this instance that our customers be patient," he said.

The areas most affected by severe storm activity included Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Doonside, Kings Langley, LalorPark, Glenhaven, Castle Hill, Dural and West Pennant Hills in Sydney's west and the Hornsby area in Sydney's northern suburbs.
